[00:00:02] So, skin cancer year after year, it's
[00:00:04] the most diagnosed form of cancer.
[00:00:07] Doctors are expecting new cases to go up
[00:00:10] dramatically this year, too. Coming up
[00:00:12] right after the break, we're going to
[00:00:13] tell you about a non-invasive treatment.
[00:00:16] It has no downtime, no cutting, and it
[00:00:19] has a 95% cure rate. That story is
[00:00:23] coming up next. It's 6:22. Good morning.
[00:00:27] Welcome back, everybody. So, more people
[00:00:29] have skin cancer than any other cancer,
[00:00:32] which is scary, and the numbers just
[00:00:33] keep going up.
[00:00:35] Especially in our state, cuz we just get
[00:00:36] so much sun. In fact, experts say more
[00:00:38] than 3 and 1/2 million cases are
[00:00:40] diagnosed every year. And experts say a
[00:00:43] lot of the increase that they're seeing
[00:00:44] is coming from the baby boomer
[00:00:46] population. There though is some new
[00:00:48] technology out there that's going to
[00:00:50] help patients treat that cancer. We're
[00:00:53] talking about non-melanoma cancer
[00:00:55] without surgery. It's called superficial
[00:00:57] radiation therapy, and it's a great
[00:00:59] alternative to surgery. You have no
[00:01:02] cutting and no downtime.
[00:01:05] It is a wonderful alternative. Um it is
[00:01:07] quick. It is safe.
[00:01:10] It is painless, and it is proven
[00:01:13] effective.
[00:01:15] So, this delivers x-ray energy directly
[00:01:18] and precisely to the cancer uh without
[00:01:21] affecting any of the nearby tissue. And
[00:01:22] it's really good for areas that would
[00:01:24] otherwise be hard to treat or that would
[00:01:26] leave a big scar. Like he's having it
[00:01:28] done on his scalp or maybe on your nose.
[00:01:30] Uh the best part, this technique has a
[00:01:32] 95%
[00:01:35] cure rate. But, still be sure you're
[00:01:37] using sunscreen.
[00:01:38] that is great though, the technology.
[00:01:40] Nice option.
